I often hear from people who contemplate my paintings exclamations like "poetic", "magical"... Such comments make me very glad indeed.
My native town, Bourgas, has the fame of a place of painters and poets.
Near the mystery of the Black Sea and embraced in the artistic-romantic atmosphere of this small and pretty town, my love for art was born since very early years.
I clearly remember my first serious attempts with the white sheet of paper...
I was almost 12 years old, when my mother gave to me a beautiful box with professional-grade paints and brushes. It was the first time I saw something like them and still remember the almost sacred feeling touching them one by one, slowly drawing filled with joy those first paintings. That feeling has been with me in one form or another since then.
During the Art School, I received intensive training in painting, drawing and sculpture from highly skilful and capable teachers, which were professional artists themselves.
Finishing school, my restless curiosity was strongly attracted by other forms of artistic expression, so I decided to dive into the different dimensions that motion art offered.
Few years more and I graduated with honours from the prestigious Bulgarian Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, specializing in Fashion Design. Besides drawing, painting and design, I got also a strong background in acting, fashion photography, music and dance. That experience was exceptionally interesting and useful to me, as it widened my notion and skills with many new means of expressing ideas using a varied sort of media.
Thanks to that unique opportunity to gain awareness into so different and exciting fields, I gradually came to the understanding that all forms of artistic expression have the potential to intensify from each other, enriching our sources of inspiration and our ability to share thoughts and emotions with others.
Such already desired perception makes me especially delighted when coming across artistic personalities, who are able to express themselves in unusual and varied manners.
After completing my formal education, I felt strong dedicating more an more time to painting. I became aware that my first love was, most of the time, the best way for me to express what I was striving for.
So then and now - going along the never-ending path of an artist, my love for painting has been increasing with every new work fulfilled during the years.
However, being still in touch with other arts, especially literature and music, intensifies that almost sacred and magical attitude when forms are invoked to life by gesture, brush and colour.
They emerge from strong emotions and vibrant ideas and I do my best to vest them, while they reborn on canvas for a life of their own.
Harmony is another quality I aspire to achieve in my works. I aim for friendship of forms and shades, because paintings shall bring up a positive and joyful message to all people who contemplate them.
In my paintings there are often elements of folklore and religion. They've always impressed me with their exquisite variety, which in a so refined manner describe ancient messages of eternal wisdom.
Nature is something very special; all its beauty is a inexhaustible source of magic, colors, shapes and harmony. A sensible teacher who always whispers something new I'm awaiting to learn.
I wish any of these paintings to silently warble to you, like still and magic birds hiding somewhere behind a ray of light; ambassadors of love, peace and freedom; symbols of hope and wisdom, reminders to never give up, to always have faith and perseverance to triumph over our limitations and fears, to fulfill our aims, to follow our dreams and to achieve a higher purpose and meaning in this life, and probably beyond it...
